Welcome to
Bivouac des Gentianes
A mountain bivouac like no other!
Perched high about above the ancient Tortin glacier at 3,000m, Bivouac des Gentianes provides sanctuary from the elements and the promise of endless adventure.
From the safety of its rock promontory the bivouac draws ski-tourers, mountaineers and walkers alike to shelter and rest. Seclusion, warmth, comfort and companionship are the signature characteristics for all who seek refuge there.
Bivouac des Gentianes…..where experiences are made, and memories are forged.

Access
Access to Bivouac des Gentianes can me made via the lift system to Col des Gentianes from both the Verbier and Nendaz sides of the valley, and then by snow-shoe or ski-touring. Alternatively, it is possible to ski down to the bivouac from Mont Fort.

Sustainability
Designed by the award-winning architect Snorre Stinessen, Cabane Tortin has been built with sustainability in mind. To practice minimal environmental impact, solar panels and a pellet-fuelled burner provide energy efficiency; water is harvested from a natural spring high in the rock face above; extensive use of glass captures natural light and warmth; and locally sourced stone and timber blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings offering a green responsible mountain retreat.
